Irwin Barker is a comedy writer and performer with a clean and clever comedy style crafted from years of experience in comedy clubs, festivals and theatre performances.
Originally from Winnipeg, Irwin is currently working as a staff writer for the award-winning "Rick Mercer Report", and spends the off-season working out of Toronto where he is in considerable demand as an after-dinner speaker and comedy entertainer. Irwin has several appearances on CBC radio's Debaters and has appeared in numerous television comedy specials including CBC's Comics, Western Alienation, Comedy Night in Canada, CBC Special: Stand-up in Kandahar, Afghanistan, The CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival and Just for Laughs International comedy festival. He has been nominated five times for a Gemini award for comedy writing as well as a Gemini nomination in 2005 in the category of best individual comedy performance. He is also a recipient of the 2008 Canadian Screenwriters' Award. Irwin's comedic style has been described as "cleverly thought out introspection," it is an analytical approach to life and work which has delighted audiences everywhere he performs.
